Report on the Seven Day NSS Camp ‘Jaivam 2017’ 

Date    : 31 August 2017 – 8 September 2017

Venue : Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Chethipuzha, Changanacherry

Area designated for survey :  Madapally Gramapanchayath, Changanacherry Taluk

Aim :   To create an awareness among the general public about organic farming and there by promote it in houses to meet the household need for vegetables , to provide useful tips on ecofriendly farming techniques and also to promote effective waste management.

Inaugural function
The inaugural function was scheduled at 5 pm on 31st August 2017 and it started with the prayer and NSS theme song. The Welcome Address was rendered by Mr. Jijo P John. The Vice Principal of the college, Dr. Varghese Antony, gave the Inaugural Address. It was followed by the Keynote Address by Mr. George Mullakkara, President of ‘Jaivakarshika Samiti’. Felicitations were given by Mr. Manoj Thuruthy (member of‘Jaivakarshika Samiti’,Changanacherry Taluk) and Ms. Bindhu Joseph (President, Madappally Gramapanchayat).The vote of thanks was proposed by the Volunteer Secretary Ms.Elizabeth Joseph. The inaugural function culminated with the National Anthem.

Routine
The daystarts at 5am for the volunteers and they assemble in the common hall for the Morning Prayer. After the assembly till breakfast time at 7.30, volunteers are given time for reading the newspaper. By 8.30 they disperse to their allotted wards to conduct the survey onthe extent of organic farming literacy among the general public.
